Can I upgrade my phone?

You can easily upgrade online, in EE stores or by calling us on 150. Login to your account to see if you're eligible for an upgrade or text UP to 150 from your phone.

Not eligible for a free upgrade? Don’t worry you can upgrade early when you pay off your remaining contract to get the latest handsets. 

How do I know if I'm eligible for an upgrade?

Have a look at the options below and see where you can upgrade.

If your account has an outstanding debt on your phone plan you will not be eligible for an upgrade until the outstanding amount is settled. 

Eligible for upgrade

Switch to a new phone & plan if you've got less than 45 days to go till your contract end date. 

Login to check if you're eligible or text UP to 150.

Upgrade options

If eligible, we have a number of ways to upgrade, select the option you want to use from the following

  • Online via Live chat (eligible for an upgrade)
  • EE Store (eligible for upgrade, early upgrade & swap)
  • Call 150 or 0800 956 6000 (eligible for upgrade & early upgrade)

Early upgrade

You get a discount off your existing contract and you can get that shiny new phone after you pay your early upgrade fee.

If you are more than 6 months into your contract with more than 45 days to go before your contract end date then you can early upgrade.

You can qualify for  an early upgrade if:

  • You are a SIM-only customer on a 12, 18 or 24 month plan with EE, or,
  • You are on any other pay monthly plan with EE

You can't upgrade early if:

  • You are a business customer
  • You have outstanding debt on your EE plan
  • You are a mobile broadband customer

Swap

Trade in your old device and swap to a new phone and 4GEE plan for a one off fee

If you are more than 6 months into your contract with more than 45 days to go and have an eligibile device before your contract end date then you can swap by visiting one of our stores. Check if you have an eligibile device here.

Keeping your own phone

You can keep your existing phone, or trade it in for cash through our Recycle and Reward scheme.

14-day cancellation period

You can decide to cancel your Early Upgrade by telling us within 14 days, unless you have chosen to recycle your old phone with Recycle and Reward.

Changing your plan

You can move to a different price plan that is more expensive than your current plan after you have been on your current contract for three months or more. You are not able to move to a less expensive price plan during your contract.
