A CHANGE IN CIRCUMSTANCES

Here’s how to let us know about any significant changes to your circumstances. 

Transfer to a friend or family member

If you’d like to transfer any of your numbers to a friend or family member, you’ll need to move the account from business to a Personal account. Please call our Customer Services team on 150 from your EE mobile and they’ll be happy to help.

Need to transfer your business account to a new business owner? Choose ‘Transfer ownership to another business’ from the drop-down below.

Change your business name or main contact

To let us know if you’ve changed the name of your business, or if you’d like to make changes to the main contacts who have permission to manage your account, please email sbcorrespondence@ee.co.uk with the information below.

If you have a limited company and both the company registration number and name have been changed, you should follow the information in the ‘Transfer ownership to another business’ drop-down below.

Change business name

Please provide the following information if you’re looking to make changes to the business name on your business account. You may wish to copy this FAQ into your email to help provide all the details we need.

1. You’ll need to attach a copy of one of the following documents:

 If you’re a Sole Trader or a Small Partnership:

  • Utility bill
  • Bank
  • Credit card statement
  • Cheque book

The document must show either the business name, 'trading as', or that it is for a business account.

If you’re a Limited Company:

  • A copy of the Certificate of Incorporation on Change of Name.
  • Authorisation to update the account – send us an attached company headed letter signed by – either the Director, Company Secretary, or existing account holder. 

If you’re a Large Partnership, Government or Charity: 

Authorisation to update the account – send us an attached company headed letter signed by one of the below:

  • Large Partnership - Director / Company Secretary / Existing Account holder.
  • Charity - Treasurer / Chairperson / Vice-Chairperson / Secretary
  • Government - Chief executive (CEO) / Director / Head teacher (if School) 


2. Don’t forget to include in the email your:

  • Current business name of your account
  • EE Account number
  • First name
  • Last name
  • Contact number
  • Email address
  • New business name

Change Main Contact

You can assign two main contacts to your EE Small Business account. A main contact has full account access which includes authority to cancel contracts and buy additional contracts/products.

Please provide the following information to request updates to the main contacts named on your business account. You may wish to copy this FAQ into your email to help provide all the details we need.

1. Authorisation to update the account – You’ll need to attach a copy of a company headed letter signed by one of the following:

  • Limited Company / Large Partnership – Director / Company Secretary / Existing Account holder.
  • Charity – Treasurer / Chairperson / Vice-Chairperson / Secretary
  • Government – Chief executive (CEO) / Director / Head teacher (if school) 

2. Please include in your email:

  • The current business name of your account
  • Your EE Account number
  • The details of your main contacts:
    • First main contact
      • First name
      • Last name
      • Contact number
      • Email address
    • Second main contact
      • First name
      • Last name
      • Contact number
      • Email address
    • Your details:
      • Your first name
      • Your last name
      • Your contact number
      • Your email address

We’ll need your contact details just in case we need to get in touch with you about this request. A confirmation email will also be sent to this email address, after the account has been updated.

We aim to confirm the details of your request by email within 5-7 working days

Transfer ownership to another business

If you’re transferring the ownership of your EE Mobile account, or any number on your account, to another business, you’ll need to email sbcorrespondence@ee.co.uk with all the information relevant for your business type.

First we’ve shown the information that all businesses need to send us.

Next there’s specific information you also need to send if you’re a sole trader or small partnership, large partnership or limited company, in government or a charity. 

With 8 sections in total, there’s quite a lot of information to send! So you may wish to copy this FAQ into your email to help provide all the details we need.

All businesses need to send us:

1. Your existing EE Business account details

  • Your business name
  • Your account name
  • Number(s) to be transferred
  • Contact telephone number
  • Email address

2. A covering letter signed by both the current owner and the new owner to give authority for the transfer to take place. See below for authorisation level accepted.

You should attach this letter to your email when you send it to us.

  • Sole Trader/Small Partnership/Self Employed – New Owner
  • Limited Company / Large Partnership - Director/Company Secretary/Account holder. This will be verified with Companies House.
  • Charity - Treasurer/Chairperson/Vice-Chairperson/Secretary
  • Government - Chief executive (CEO) /Director/Head teacher (if School)

3. Any spend caps you choose to set for the new owner

An EE Business spend cap is an option the new owner can choose to help limit how much is spent on top of the monthly plan. More about spend caps

Each mobile number could have a spend cap of £0, £5, £10, £15, £20, £30, £40, £50, £75, £100, £150 or £200.           

If the new owner chooses to set a spend cap, please send us the mobile number and the spend cap amount to set for it.

4. Marketing preferences for the new owner

Please choose one of these options for how to receive marketing:

  • All
  • Text
  • Phone
  • Email
  • Post
  • None

5. Usage information preferences for the new owner

Please answer Yes or No if the new owner allow us to use data from the account to tailor communications to you and advise when an upgrade is due.

6. Agreement of the terms and conditions for the new owner

Please answer Yes or No if the new owner agrees to EE Business terms and conditions EE Business terms and conditions and the information below:

On every EE contract the monthly price plan charge will be increased by RPI annually in March. The price increase will be based on the monthly price plan charge excluding any discount. Other prices, such as call charges and roaming costs, may also go up during the plan. The first annual RPI increase will take place in March 2020.

On EE contracts the EE Access Charge is 55 pence per minute including VAT.

EE will legally own all devices sold for the first six months to help reduce fraud and theft. It doesn't affect any warranty or insurance you may have and you're still responsible for any damage or loss. It just means you can't sell OR unlock the device during that period.

Please note that if these terms and conditions aren’t agreed, we won’t be able to transfer ownership to another business.

Sole trader and small partnerships also need to send us:

7. Copies of three documents as proof of the new owner (one from each section).

Proof of business 

  • Bank statement
  • Credit card statement
  • Letter from bank (dated within the last three months)
  • Company utility bill
  • VAT certificate

Proof of address

  • Bank statement
  • Credit card statement
  • Letter from bank (dated within the last three months)
  • Company utility bill (dated within the last three months)
  • Council tax invoice

Proof of identity

  • Passport
  • Driving license
  • Credit card/debit card

Please note: We can’t accept the same proof twice. For example, you can’t use the company bank statement for both proof of business and proof of address.

8. Information so we can carry out a credit check on the new owner

You’ll need to send us all these details for the new owner:

  • Full name
  • Date of birth
  • Current home address
  • Length of time at home address
  • Previous home address if less than three years at current address
  • Length of time at previous home address
  • Occupation
  • Length of time in occupation
  • New business name
  • Landline contact number
  • Email address
  • List of numbers to be transferred
  • Password for new account
  • Direct Debit sort code
  • Direct Debit account number
  • Length of time at bank 

Large partnerships and limited companies also need to send us:

7. Copies of two documents as proof of the new owner (one from each section)

Certificate of Incorporation or change of name certificate showing most recent update (if the business name has been changed) as proof of business.

Proof of address, showing the full business name and trading address

  • Bank statement
  • Credit card statement
  • Letter from bank (dated within the last three months)
  • Company utility bill (dated within the last three months)
  • VAT certificate

8. Information so we can carry out a credit check on the new owner

Our credit referrals team may need to run a credit check on a recorded director. By sending us all these details, you consent for a credit check to take place:

  • New business name
  • Company registration number
  • Director’s name
  • Director’s date of birth
  • Director’s last three years of home addresses including time at these addresses
  • Landline contact number for director
  • Email contact for director
  • List of numbers to be transferred
  • Password for new account
  • Direct Debit sort code
  • Direct Debit account number
  • Name on bank account
  • Name of any additional main contacts for new account

Government accounts also need to send us:

7. Copies of two documents as proof of the new owner (one from each section)

Government purchase order signed by the highest ranked person as proof of business

Proof of government address

  • Bank statement
  • Credit card statement
  • Letter from bank (dated within the last three months)
  • Company utility bill (dated within the last three months)
  • VAT certificate

8. Information so we can carry out a credit check on the new owner

You’ll need to send us all these details for the new owner:

  • New name on account
  • Landline contact number for purchase order signee
  • Email contact for purchase order signee
  • List of numbers to be transferred
  • Password for new account
  • Direct Debit sort code
  • Direct Debit account number
  • Name on bank account
  • Names of any additional main contacts for new account

Charities also need to send us:

7. Copies of two documents as proof of the new owner (one from each section)

Charity registration certificate as proof of business

Proof of charity address

  • Bank statement
  • Credit card statement
  • Letter from bank (dated within the last three months)
  • Charity utility bill (dated within the last three months)

8. Information so we can carry out a credit check on the new owner

You’ll need to send us all these details for the new owner:

  • New charity name
  • Charity number
  • Trustee’s name
  • Landline contact number for trustee
  • Email contact for trustee
  • List of numbers to be transferred
  • Password for new account
  • Direct Debit sort code
  • Direct Debit account number
  • Name on bank account
  • Name of any additional main contacts for new account

Important information about transferring ownership to another business

  • Any upgrade can’t happen until at least seven days after we’ve completed the change of ownership
  • We can only change ownership on accounts that have been active for three months or more
  • There must not be an outstanding balance on the account
  • All discounts on the account will continue – except for Multi Plan and Friends & Family discounts
  • Data Gifting is not available on Business accounts
  • Any Smart Watch contract must be on the same account as the phone it’s paired with

Changing your name

To let us know you’ve changed your name through marriage, divorce or deed poll, please send a covering letter and a copy of one of the documents below:

  • Your marriage or civil partnership certificate
  • Your passport and a recent utility bill
  • Your deed poll
  • Your decree absolute

Prison, remand, deportation

If you’re in prison, you’ll need to send us a letter on letter-headed paper from the prison, a solicitor or police court of justice, including official confirmation of your sentence or that you’re on remand awaiting trial.

If you’ve had a change to your residency status in the UK, we'll need a copy of the letter from the Home Office or UK Immigration, confirming the change.

Closing the account of someone who’s died

If you want to inform us of the death of an account holder please call our Customer Services team on 150 from your EE mobile or 07953 966 250 from any other phone.
