With BT Sport you can cast live sporting action on the BT Sport app on your phone to a TV screen using either Apple TV or Google Chromecast casting devices.

Good to know:

You can only cast from the Standard Player within the BT Sport app - the Enhanced Player does not support casting.

The Enhanced Player offers a great range of additional features which unfortunately can’t be used with casting.

Additional features include:
  1. easily navigable timeline meaning you can view tagged highlights whenever you want

  2. re-watch highlights from multiple angles not seen on normal broadcast with the multicam feature

  3. goggle-free VR means you can feel like you’re at the ground, plus you can watch in 360 in both binocular and magic window mode

  4. keep track of all the key stats throughout the game, available at a moment’s notice

  5. goal alerts meaning you can easily keep track of multiple games, plus you can click through to view events in another game, before returning to your favourite

  6. easily switch between live matches from within the player

Can you cast via 4G to your TV in HD?

Yes, you can create a personal hotspot on your phone that your Apple TV or Google Chromecast can connect to and then just cast from your phone to your big screen.

We’ll give you inclusive data at no additional cost with BT Sport, so if you’re using a personal hotspot to cast it won't come out of your plan allowance.

Will the data come out of my allowance?

If you're using the BT Sport app and also have access on multiple devices and the big screen (3 month free trial only), you'll be able to live stream and catch up on BT Sport programmes without using data from your allowance. Once the free trial has finished we'll contact you to let you know you will be switched to our £15 per month subscription.

All other data you use on the BT Sport app (such as browsing the app, viewing news articles, watching short video clips and viewing images) will use data from your monthly allowance, even if you have access to casting.
