Protection built into every plan

All our Safer SIM plans come with pre-set parental control options, so you can rest assured your child is better protected against viewing inappropriate material.

Parental controls can't be switched off, so whenever they’re connected to the EE Mobile network they’ll be safer online. Parental controls block access to websites based on content categories but can’t block all content in apps.

If you’ve got EE Broadband, you can set more parental controls so that devices connected to your Smart Hub router will have content filtered too.

EE’s Safer SIMs are specially designed phone plans for children that give parents greater control and peace of mind. With built-in parental controls, scam call protection, and spending limits that can’t be turned off, these plans are tailored to help keep children safer while they are connected to the EE network. Whether you're setting up your child’s first phone or upgrading to something more secure, Safer SIMs are a smart choice for families.

Below are some frequently asked questions to help you understand how Safer SIMs work and what they offer:

You’ll be able to move between pay monthly Safer SIM plans after 30 days. When the time is right, you can move from a Safer SIM plan to an adult plan.

To set up EU roaming before you travel, you will need to ensure your child has a Spend Cap set higher than £0. You will then be able to roam at the daily rate until the chosen Spend Cap is reached. Roaming is disabled on the pay as you go Guided plan.

Parental controls work by blocking inappropriate content (dependant on the plan selected) whilst you are using the EE network. This is built into all Safer SIM plans and can never be turned off. Parental controls block access to websites based on content categories but can’t block all content in apps. It is important to remember that these controls only work on the network, and you must also set up device level and broadband controls to keep your child safer online. ‘Strict’ blocks 18-rated material, any content above a PG rating, and prevents functioning of chat, dating, and unmoderated social networking sites e.g. Instagram, Snapchat etc. It also includes Google SafeSearch to filter out websites related to adult or unsecured content, creating a safer browsing environment for younger users whilst using the EE network. ’Moderate’ blocks 18-rated material whilst using the EE Network.

Not while connected to our network, but you will need to ensure that your child’s device is not using a VPN and has Apple Private Relay off (iPhone only). The Safer SIM plans only restrict access whilst using the EE Network. For more complete control, you must also set up broadband parental controls and device level controls (e.g. Google Family Link). Parental controls block access to websites based on content categories but can’t block all content in apps.

Safer SIMs include built-in content and spending controls that can’t be turned off. These stop kids from accessing 18+ content whilst on the EE network and from adding extras or incurring additional charges. Parental controls block access to websites based on content categories but can’t block all content in apps. Scam call labelling is also included to help prevent children answering scam calls.

No, these plans don’t include location tracking services. However, you can view your child’s data usage anytime through the EE app.

Yes, your child can use their existing phone with a Safer SIM. This allows you to keep using a device you already own without needing to purchase a new phone.

Pay monthly Safer SIMs are 5G enabled, but not 5G Standalone. To use 5G you’ll need to make sure your child has a 5G compatible phone. Pay as you go Safer SIMs are 4G enabled.

During your minimum term the monthly price for your plan will be as-per the prices above. After your minimum term, your plan price will increase on 1st March each year.
