How does the Roam Abroad Pass work?

From 7 July 2021, our roaming pass will be called Roam Abroad instead of Roam Further. The benefits of Roam Abroad and Roam Further are the same.

If you're already using Roam Further as a Smart Benefit or add-on on 7 July 2021:

You can continue to use Roam Further until you reach the end of your contract or upgrade. If you swap it for another a Smart Benefit or cancel it in that time, you'll still have the option to add it back on to your account.

The pass allows you to use your standard minutes, text and data plan allowances while abroad in the five countries listed below, just as you would in the UK. From January 2022, the pass will also include 47 European destinations.

The Roam Abroad pass will cover all countries affected by the EU roaming charges from January 2022: Austria, Azores, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus (excludes northern Cyprus),  Czech Republic, Canary Islands, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, French Guiana, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Guadeloupe, Guernsey, Hungary, Iceland, Isle of Man,  Italy, Jersey, Latvia, Lichtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Madeira, Malta, Martinique, Mayotte, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal,  Reunion Islands,  Romania,  San Marino, Saint Martin (French), Saint Barthelemy, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and Vatican City (Italy).

Good to know:

If your plan comes with more than 50GB of data per month, a fair use policy of 50GB will apply when roaming abroad.

To add the Roam Abroad Pass to your plan as a chargeable standalone add-on:

  1.  

    text ROAMING PASS to 150

Or select the pass as your Smart Benefit if you have a Smart or Full Works plan.

    log in to My EE or use the My EE app

  2.  

    go to Menu > Plans, Smart Benefits & add-ons

  3.  

    select Smart Benefits and follow the steps to select the pass

£10 per month. This cost will be added to your monthly mobile bill and will appear as a separate line in the add-ons section of your bill. If you add this service in the middle of your monthly billing period then the cost in the first month will be prorated.

Do you have a Smart or Full Works plan?

If you're on one of our Smart or Full Works plans, you'll be able to select this pass as a Smart Benefit in your plan free of charge.

If you select the pass as a Smart Benefit but are currently paying for the pass, the chargeable version will be removed and replaced with the Smart Benefit version.

Good to know:

If you change from the chargeable version to the Smart Benefit version in the middle of your billing month, we'll credit your next bill with any remaining days on your chargeable version.

You'll be able to purchase a data add-on. When you switch your device on abroad, we'll send you a text message with full details on how to purchase a data add-on.

Do I need to sign a contract for the Roam Abroad Pass?

Do I need to sign a contract for the Roam Abroad Pass?

The Roam Abroad Pass is a 30-day rolling add-on so once added it will stay on your account, with the cost added to your monthly mobile bill, until you remove it.

This means you have the flexibility to add the Roam Abroad Pass to your account for one month, remove it the following month and then re-add the month after.

Do you have a Smart or Full Works plan?

If you've selected the pass as a Smart Benefit in your Smart or Full Works plan, there are no additional charges or contracts to sign.

If you have the pass as a chargeable standalone add-on:

    text STOP ROAMING PASS to 150

If you cancel during the middle of your monthly billing period then the cost in the final month will be prorated and you'll only be billed for the days you had the pass.

Alternatively, if you have the pass as a Smart Benefit:

  1.  

    log in to My EE or use the My EE app

  2.  

    go to Menu > Plans, Smart Benefits & add-ons

  3.  

    select Smart Benefits and follow the steps to remove or choose the pass
