Following Brexit, the way our network operates in the EU will be changing.

For pay monthly handset and SIM customers:

  1.

If your plan started before 7 July 2021: If you're on a pay monthly plan and your contract started before 7 July 2021, these changes will not affect you.

  2.

If your plan started on or after 7 July 2021: If you take out a pay monthly handset or SIM plan from 7 July onwards, there will be a daily charge for using your phone in our European roaming zone (see list of destinations). However, we won't apply the new EU roaming charges until January 2022.

For pay monthly tablet, laptop and mobile broadband customers:

  1.

If your plan started before 18 August 2021: If you're on a pay monthly tablet, laptop, mobile broadband or data SIM plan and your contract started before 18 August 2021, these changes will not affect you.

  2.

If your plan started on or after 18 August 2021: If you take a pay monthly tablet, laptop, mobile broadband or data SIM plan from 18 August 2021 onwards, there will be a daily charge for using your phone in our European roaming zone (see list of destinations). However, we won't apply the new roaming charges until January 2022.

What will the new charges for EU roaming be after January 2022?

What will the new charges for EU roaming be after January 2022?

From January 2022, you can use your minutes, texts and data allowances in our European roaming zone (see list of destinations) for £2 a day.

Here's how the new charges will work:

  1.

One low fixed daily payment of £2 per day

  2.

You don't need to do anything to opt in: if you use your allowances you'll pay £2 for that day, and if you don't, you won't be charged anything

  3.
All your allowances work just like at home - and you can buy more data if you need to.

Do I have any other options apart from paying a daily roaming charge?

Using the minutes, texts and data in the EU/EEA is no longer included in your plan allowance. However, if you’re heading away this year, you’re in luck – the daily charge doesn’t start until January 2022.

From January 2022, if you have a plan with Smart Benefits, you can choose our Roam Abroad pass as a Smart Benefit and you won’t have to pay the £2 daily charge in the EU.

Alternatively, you can take Roam Abroad as an add-on to your plan at any time for £10 a month and you won’t have to pay the £2 daily charge in the EU.

If you have a plan with Smart Benefits, you can choose Roam Abroad as a Smart Benefit for any month when you’ll be travelling. From January 2022, our Roam Abroad Smart Benefit will include roaming in our European roaming zone, which means that using your plan allowance in any of the destinations covered will cost the same as it does at home.

Roam Abroad as an add-on

Roam Abroad as an add-on

From January 2022, our Roam Abroad add-on will include roaming in the EU, which means that using your plan allowance in our European roaming zone will cost the same as it does at home. You can add Roam Abroad as an add-on to your plan at any time for £10 a month and cancel whenever you like.
