Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)
2FA, also known as Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), is an extra layer of security for your EE account. You’ll need to use a passcode, which we’ll send to your mobile, as well as a password.
When you might need to use it:
- when you log in from a new device
- change important account details
- recover your account
Need to know
Once 2FA has been set up on your account you won’t be able to remove it.
How to set up 2FA in the EE app
- Open the EE app.
- Tap on Profile, the icon in the top right corner.
- Open Login information.
- In Security, select Enable two-factor authentication.
- Add your mobile number.
- You will get a 6-digit passcode to authenticate that number.
- Enter your passcode.
- Tap submit.
You'll receive a text and an email confirming 2FA has been set up on your account.
How to set up 2FA using a web browser
- Log in to EE online.
- Go to Profile.
- Go to Login information.
- In Security, select Enable two-factor authentication.
- Add your mobile number.
- You will get a 6-digit passcode to authenticate that number.
- Enter your passcode.
- Select submit.
You'll receive a text and an email confirming 2FA has been set up on your account.
You can change the number you use for 2FA in the same section of EE online.
