Using 5G Standalone on your mobile

This article helps you with what you need to use EE’s 5G Standalone service on a device.

5G Standalone is the latest evolution of EE’s mobile network, and uses 5G end-to-end, to give you:

  • faster download and upload speeds
  • better network performance in crowded areas, such as stadiums
  • enhanced end-to-end security
  • more power efficiency, so may help with device battery life too

Accessing 5G Standalone

To use 5G Standalone, you will need:

  1. an All Rounder or Full Works mobile plan bought after 29 August 2024
  2. SIM cards activated after September 2021 are compatible, or any eSIM 
  3. a compatible device, see list of devices below   
  4. 5G Standalone coverage, use our postcode search tool to check your address

Need to know

If your current SIM is not compatible, moving to an eSIM is a quick way to update your SIM. Check if your device is eSIM compatible.
