Upgrade your phone early with EE Early Phone Swap

This page helps you check if you’re eligible for Early Phone Swap, explains how to get started, and tells you what to do if something doesn't go as planned.

What you can do with Early Phone Swap

Early Phone Swap lets you upgrade to a new phone before your current device plan ends, without paying extra for your old phone, if you meet the eligibility rules.

You’ll start a new 3-year Flex Pay plan for your new phone.

Check if you’re eligible

Your plan needs to:

  • be a 3-year Flex Pay plan
  • be in the last 12 months
  • be up to date
  • pass a credit check

Your current phone needs to:

  • have been bought from EE
  • turn on and work properly
  • have no security locks, such as Find My turned on
  • not be lost, blocked, or stolen
  • be worth at least £100, which we will check

How to get started

Follow these steps to check and upgrade:

  1. Open the EE app.
  2. Select your plan to check how much time is left on your device plan.
  3. Choose an upgrade to see phones available with Early Phone Swap.

What happens next

Once you’ve upgraded:

  • We’ll send you your new phone.
  • You’ll need to return your current phone to EE.

If you do not return your current phone, you’ll keep paying the remaining balance on your original device plan.

If something goes wrong

If you cannot complete Early Phone Swap:

  • Check that your phone meets the condition requirements.
  • Make sure your account is up to date.
  • Try again later if you are not yet in the last 12 months of your plan.

The legal bit

We reserve the right to change, suspend, or withdraw the Early Phone Swap program at any time, without any prior notice. Further eligibility requirements may apply.

Available to customers in the last 12 months of a 36-month device credit agreement taken from 15 September 2025. Eligibility is subject to the following:

You must return your current phone and enter into a new 36-month device credit agreement with a 24-month airtime contract. Your account must be up to date, and you’ll have to pass our credit check and assessment for your new phone.

Your current phone must have been purchased from EE, be in full working order, be able to power up, have any security features such as Find My Phone disabled, and it must not have been reported as either lost, blocked, or stolen.

Your current phone must have a minimum value of £100, which will be assessed at EE’s sole discretion.

If you do not return your current phone after Early Phone Swap, you will continue to pay the remaining balance of your loans. We reserve the right to change, suspend, or withdraw the Early Phone Swap program at any time, without any prior notice. Further eligibility requirements may apply.
