Device Usage on your EE WiFi

Device Usage lets you monitor the time that a group of devices spends online. Device Usage is a feature only available with the Smart Hub Plus and can be turned on from the WiFi Controls section of the EE app.

Turning on Device Usage

Get the app:

  • download from the App Store if you're an Apple user
  • download from Google Play if you're on Android

Once downloaded:

  1. Open the EE app.
  2. Select WiFi Controls.
  3. Scroll down the dashboard until you see Groups.
  4. Select the group you want to monitor or create a new group.
  5. Find Device Usage and switch the toggle on. You are now monitoring the devices in that group.

It’ll take around 24 hours before you can see some data in Device Usage.

You’ll then see both the last day and 7 days activity, and some information on the average time spent online.

Turning off Device Usage

Turning off Device Usage will delete your data history from this section.

  1. Open the EE app.
  2. Select WiFi Controls.
  3. Scroll down the dashboard until you see Groups.
  4. Select the group you want to monitor or create a new group.
  5. Find Device Usage and switch the toggle off.

Devices included in Device Usage

Device Usage only counts everyday devices like phones, tablets, laptops and games consoles.

It only counts the time the device accesses the internet, for example when you go to use an app or streaming service.

So, it won’t count the general connection of a device to the WiFi.

Your smart home gadgets, like lightbulbs, kitchen gadgets and doorbells, won’t be included.

Your privacy

You must let someone know if you are monitoring their device and the time they spend online.

Look at our privacy policy for more information.
