4G Mini Hub for BT Halo

As a BT Halo customer, you'll have a 4G Mini Hub sent to you when you can't get online using your usual broadband connection.

Get started with your 4G Mini Hub

Plug in the Mini Hub for it to start charging and switch it on.

You'll see a sold blue light when it connects to the network and you've got good signal.

Connect your devices

  1. Go to one device's WiFi settings to find the name of your Mini Hub.
You'll find it on the 'Keep Me' card you got in the Mini Hub box.
  2. Then enter the password that's on the 'Keep Me' card. You should now be connected.
  3. When you initially turn on and connect the first device using the default details navigate to http://192.168.1.1 and change the 4G Mini Hub's WiFi Network Name (SSID) and WiFi password to match your broadband Smart Hub. All the devices that connected to your hub will then connect to your 4G Mini Hub without you needing to change their settings.
  4. If you can't find the 'Keep Me' card, you can find the Mini Hub's network name and password by removing the back cover.
  5. You can connect up to 20 devices over WiFi. You can't connect your devices to the Mini Hub using a cable.

Charging your 4G Mini Hub

To charge your Mini Hub, use the Mirco USB cable or other suitable charger. Press the power button for a couple of seconds to turn on.

The lights will tell you how much battery is left:

  • Solid blue - you have enough power.
  • Flashing blue - charging.
  • Solid red - battery is lower than 20%.

Need to know

If you're keeping the Mini Hub plugged into the power for a long time, it's best to remove the battery. Otherwise, it may overheat.

Problems with the 4G Mini Hub

If the hub isn't responding, hold down the power button for 10 seconds and it'll restart.

You can also try resetting your hub. On the back of the hub there's a reset button - you'll need a paperclip or blunt pin to gently press it for 5 seconds.

Sleep mode

If there's no device connected and it's been on for a while, the hub will use sleep mode to save power by turning off WiFi. All you need to do is touch the power button to get it going again.

Track your open fault

BT will let you know when your fault's been fixed, but if you want an update go to the BT fault tracker.

Parental controls

The Mini Hub is set to light controls, but you can change the level of access by logging into your BT account.

How to return the 4G Mini Hub

  1. Pack your Mini Hub with all cables and instructions into the original box.
  2. Put the box into the original mailing bag and seal with the sealing strip. Peel off and apply the pre-paid returns label on top of the original mailing bag label.
  3. Post in any post box, or take to a Post Office if you want proof of postage.
