Report damage or hazards to cables, poles, cabinets and manholes

This article explains who to and how to report damage or hazards to cables, poles, cabinets, and manholes, ensuring quick action and keeping your broadband service safe and uninterrupted.

There are two companies that are responsible for looking after the infrastructure that your broadband services work over.

Outside your property - please get in touch with Openreach.

Inside your property - please get in touch with EE.

Outside the boundaries of your home

If the damage or hazard is outside the boundaries of your home, report it to Openreach on 0800 023 2023, option 1.

Damage or hazards might be:

  • damaged underground cables, for example when the road is being dug up
  • loose cables
  • cables dangling from telephone poles
  • damaged green cabinets
  • green cabinets with open doors
  • damaged telephone poles
  • loose, cracked or missing manhole covers
  • unsafe Openreach worksites

Inside the boundaries of your home

If the problem is in your own home, including the garden, EE will look after it.
